Serengeti Lion

The Serengeti Lion is the result of 9 months of filming over a two-year period in Tanzania’s incredible Serengeti National Park. National Geographic magazine was given unprecedented accesses; our filming was done in area off-limits to tourists and other film crews. This project was the final hurrah of my 10-year collaboration with photographer Michael “Nick” Nichols. Unlike our earlier assignments, I was able to shoot side-by-side Nick with the goal of creating a long-form mix of stills and moving images. We took a chance, and below is a link to how we rolled it out on a special multimedia website at National Geographic.

The full-screen site is here, be prepared to spend a few minutes on safari as you explore the sites and sounds of the Serengeti.
